I bought a wireless router and I have a wireless laptop, how do I connect the two?

I have a modem that is connected to my laptop. My laptop has wireless ability, I purchased a wireless router but it looks like I need to connect it to a desktop to make it work. Is this true?|||No, that's not true at all. Just connect your modem to the router (not your laptop), set up your router to broadcast a wireless network (check the manual), and then your laptop should be able to pick up the signal from the router. It's quite simple, and most routers come with decent setup guides.|||Most of the routers come with the software which you can run to make them broadcast the network with a name...initially as there's no connection to the router you will need to connect any computer wired to the router and run the software(or do the manual settings for your brand) and then disconnect the laptop.

You'll find the network with the name you gave it on the available networks on your laptop. Now, Just connect to it.|||Yes, that is true. Unless, of course, you can find someone that hasn't put a password in their router.
