Will a wireless router that is hooked up to a desktop computer slow down the internet speed?

I just got a wii and i want to get internet for it. However we dont have wifi and need some way to connect it so i am looking into buying a wireless router. Since the wireless router will need to hook up to my desktop computer will that router slow down the internet on the desktop computer alot compared to the desktop being hooked up to a dsl modem?|||No, it will not slow down the internet speed if you directly connect it to a wireless router. It's basically the same thing as a normal router, except it broadcasts a wireless signal, to wireless devices.

However, while playing the Wii, or using other wireless devices that may use some bandwidth, you could notice a bit of a slow down while on the internet depending on how much bandwidth those devices are using. Regardless, I believe it would be barely noticeable, depending on how good of a DSL connection you have.|||Well if it's wired directly to the router instead of wireless. Then no.... You won't notice any difference in speed at all. Even if the desktop is connected to the router wirelessly and you are not doing anything bandwidth intensive. You wouldn't notice any change at all either.|||depending on the router speed and internet speed it should only slow slightly or not at all
