What do i plug my wireless router into if i have no desktop computer?

I just moved into an apartment complex, all i have now is my laptop and wireless router. When i turn it on i have connections to the apartment complex. It says i can push a button on my wireless router and it will connect, but what to i plug the wireless router into, or does it just set there? The phone jack?

Oh and i dont have internet, but at apts that provide it, you dont have to.|||I have never encountered a wireless network that did not require a "modem" interface with your router. If your complex provides IS (internet service) over a (provided) cable TV service, you'll need a cable modem: TV cable goes in one end; modem output goes to input on router.

If your complex provides IS via the telephone system, then you need a DSL (Digital Subscriber Line; a high-speed) modem from the phone company. Same drill: you attach a phone line to the DSL modem, and the output of the modem goes to the input of your router.

The VERY BEST plan: I, and everyone who answers your question can guess to our hearts' content, and you still will probably end up not having service. What you absolutely NEED to do is get in touch with your landlord and find out EXACTLY what you need to do: this is the only way to solve your problem once and for all.

There's nothing magic in any of this, and don't let anyone try and intimidate you with what I call 'technobabble'. Computer types and IS-Provider types are very good at this. Keep after them until you get the information you need. Be sure and have all the information they need as regards the equipment you're using.

Best of luck to you|||If the apartment complex provides you with wireless Internet, and your computer can connect to it, you don't need the router at all.|||Ya without Internet your sol. Try scanning for an unprotected wifi connection and use that you will not need the router til your obtain internet.
